About Us

WEDG is a membership charity organisation that was founded in 1986 and is also supported by Christian Aid, Oxfam and other grant awarding bodies.

WEDG is a member of LaSER-Global Dimension, which receives funding from the Department for International Development, www.local4global.org.uk.

WEDG works with other organisations at a local, regional and national level to promote understanding of issues surrounding development in many parts of the world.

WEDG is a member of the Development Education Association. Registered charity no. 1017562

Our Aims

Develop people's skills, knowledge and understanding of the world by exploring issues such as inequality, conflict and sustainability

Encourage people to challenge assumptions, and stereotypes and to make links between countries South and North

Enable people to discuss, challenge and co-operate and to be at the centre of their own learning

Celebrates cultural diversity and the arts of the peoples of the South
