About us

- WEDG stands for World Education Development Group (Kent), and is a membership charitable organisation that was founded in 1986. Registered charity no. 1017562
- WEDG is a Development Education Centre, and a member of the national organisations Think Global (formerly the Development Education Association). and the Consortium of Development Education Centres .
- WEDG works with other organisations at a local, regional and national level to promote understanding of global citizenship and what it means at a personal and day to day level.
- WEDG is partially self funded, and also receives funding from grant awarding bodies.
- WEDG is part of the regional initiative Local4Global, a consortium of teachers and other educators building a learning community for the global dimension in the south east region.
Our Vision
A just and sustainable world where people gain an understanding of what it means to be global citizens in the 21st century by developing a positive attitude towards difference and appreciating the importance of equality and social justice.
Our Aims
- To celebrate cultural diversity in society in the UK and the wider world.
- To help people, especially young people to better understand each other, their own identities and the connections they have with others around the world.
- To promote behaviour and action conducive to sustainable lifestyles.
