WEDG provides a range of services to support teachers, pupils, university students and others in developing their awareness and understanding of Global Citizenship.
Teacher training at Canterbury Christ Church University
WEDG has been working with tutors at Canterbury Christ Church University in assisting with the development and delivery of a module for undergraduate BA Hons Primary Education trainee teachers called Learning in the Global Community. The course is now in its third year and students undertake a 10 week module that explores a range of issues from identity, stereotypes and culture to globalisation, the environment and education styles across the globe. A keynote lecture each week is then unpicked in follow up seminars with discussion, further clarification and ways of incorporating a global dimension in classroom teaching. The impact on students has been carefully monitored from the start, is ongoing and the results shared with colleagues. (Education of Hope: the impact of ESD/GC on the well being of teachers and and young people).
For children and young people
Our experienced team will deliver practical, stimulating and informative global-themed workshops and assemblies to children of all ages, and can arrange for a ‘Global Classroom Visitor’ to talk from personal experience about life in another country.
For teachers and other educators
If you want to develop your own skills and confidence at tackling the many complex and challenging issues that Global Citizenship presents, WEDG can help with a range of supportive, professional and thought-provoking training sessions.
